Donor Information – Giving By Mail
The Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen (HASK)
maintains records of each donor's name, mailing address, and the amount and
date of each donation, telephone numbers,
and e-mail addresses. HASK uses
this information
to acknowledge donors’ gifts and to
mail donor renewal appeals.
A data management company maintains and securely stores
donor information received by mail.
HASK does not make any individual’s donation history
available to any other outside parties.

Exchange of Donor Names and
Addresses
HASK exchanges names and addresses as
part of its direct mail campaign to acquire new donors. This exchange is for
an equal number of other charities’ donor names and addresses. (These
charities must be tax-exempt public charities as determined by the IRS.) This process helps raise funds to fulfill
our mission
of feeding the hungry and providing related Counseling and
Referrals
services.
Procedure for Donors to Have their
Names Removed or Not Exchanged
HASK reviews all new donor names and
addresses and matches them against the Direct Marketing
Association’s "No Mail Preference"
files that identify persons who do not
want their names rented or exchanged or do not want to receive any direct
mail from any organization. HASK excludes all such names from its future
mail appeals.
The Soup Kitchen annually includes
in a donor
appeal a check off box that give donors the option to
remove their names from the HASK mailing list or not to have their names exchanged with
other charities. A donor may also contact us
directly to request an “opt
out” by mail to Holy Apostles
Soup Kitchen, 296 Ninth Avenue, New York, NY 10001, Attention Director of
Development; by phone to (212) 924-0167; by fax to (212) 807-6821; or by
e-mail to
donations@holyapostlesnyc.org.
