Project Description

On Sunday, February 10, following the 11:00 am service the Church of the Holy Apostles hosted a community event honoring black history month and the life and legacy of Bayard Rustin. The program featured a short film on this “angelic troublemaker” who was prominent in the Civil Rights Movement and lived in Penn South, and a discussion moderated by Deacon Bob Jacobs with Bayard Rustin’s partner Walter Naegle. Food was be provided, and welcomed our neighbors from Penn South, Chelsea Elliot Houses, Fulton Houses, Congregation Beth Simchat Torah as well as volunteers from the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen. Thank you to everyone who made the day so very special in our communal life.
