Dear Members & Friends of Holy Apostles,
The seasons can be confusing. We expect winter chill and snow and get sixty degree days. Instead of icicles, daffodils push their way through unfrozen earth. We anticipate one thing but often get another. While the four seasons can upset expectations, our liturgical seasons do not.
There is nothing unclear or uncertain about the season which is almost upon us. This coming Wednesday, we will hear those familiar words once again: "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return."
May we have the courage to hear and to live with these eleven stark words, which are anything but confusing. And bear their truth not just for a service but for a season.
