Parish Groups

Hospitality Guild

The parish of Holy Apostles enjoys getting together and has a taste for good food! Members of the Hospitality Guild provide food for the coffee hour following Sunday services and coordinates potluck dinners on festive holidays. Strove Tuesday finds members flipping pancakes for the parish, a Newcomers party is held each spring, and a Welcome Back party takes place in the fall.

 

Plant Parenthood

Those parishioners who find satisfaction in the beauty of plants and flowers have joined together in Plant Parenthood for the care, feeding, and beautification of the church grounds.

 

Social and Economic Justice Committee

Continuing the long tradition of Holy Apostles' social outreach efforts, concerned parishioners meet monthly to discuss and take action towards effecting positive change in the community.

 

Liturgical Participation

Acolytes

Vested persons who share in the liturgy as thurifers, crucifers, torch bearers, banner bearers, and servers.

 

Choir Members

Sing at the 11 a.m. service and on feast days (audition required).

Lay Readers

Licensed by the Diocese to officiate at the Daily Office, Way of the Cross, and Holy Saturday liturgies. After the first year, lay readers can be licensed to administer the chalice, as needed.

 

Lectors

Read the Old and New Testament lessons and lead the Prayers of the People during the liturgy.

Sacristans

Prepare the altar for liturgy, and care for the vestments, paraments, and sacred vessels.

Ushers and Greeters

Welcome people as they arrive for worship and provide practical help with logistics of the liturgy.

Appointed or Elected Committees

Aspirants Committee

Advises the vestry regarding parishioners seeking to enter holy orders; supports and evaluates these in the ordination process.

 

Building Committee

Oversees the restoration and upkeep of our historic church building and grounds.

 

Finance Committee

Advises the vestry on budget and other financial matters.

 

Nominating Committee

Accepts nominations for members of the vestry and evaluates the eligibility of nominees and voters.

 

Stewardship Committee

Provides opportunities for the offering of our time, talent, and treasure.

 

Vestry

A body of twelve elected members and two wardens, they have responsibility for the property and financial oversight. Vestry are elected by eligible parishioners at the annual meeting in January.

We welcome those celebrating faith or struggling with doubt, those seeking both spiritual and physical nourishment, and those of diverse ages, races, and sexual orientations.
